There’s been a lot of behind-the-scenes drama going on at Marvel Studios in recent months regarding the live-action shows they’ve been developing. They’ll handle things very differently from here on out, but most of the news was around Echo AND Daredevil: Born AgainThere’s another show in development… Iron heart.
It’s been a while since we’ve gotten any kind of update on the series, but it’s the star Dominique Thorne recently revealed that filming on the project has wrapped. During an interview with Expirationthe actress said:
“The filming has concluded, in fact. I mean, I can say buckle up, get ready. It will be a journey, just like everyone is. It’s an epic journey and I’m very excited to share it.”
Thorne takes on the role of Riri Williams and here we see her for the first time wearing the armor. The series is also the protagonist Manny Montana, Alden Ehrenreich, Shea CouleéAND Zoe Terakes.
The six-episode series was created by Chinaka Hodgeand the story follows Riri Williams, a young engineering genius and creator of the most advanced armor since Iron Man. The series will be set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I got to see some of the early footage from the series and liked what I saw, but we’ll have to wait and see.
It was previously said that the theme of Iron heart it will be “Magic vs Tech”, always a fun concept to play with!
Producer Nate Moore has said he sees the Ironheart series as a direct sequel to Wakanda Forever, saying:
“That show is an outgrowth of how much we liked in this movie and also in the script. So when we talked to [Dominique Throne] initially, of course, the character was already written into the script and she was the only person we talked about for the role. When she said yes and we were well underway with the script, we also started talking [Ryan Coogler] about what the show could be like.
“So, the show is a direct sequel to the movie. And… [Riri Williams] he’s bringing his experiences in this film home to MIT. And there are some interesting repercussions to her adventures that will put her on a fun path.”
Ironheart was recently removed from Marvel’s release schedule, but a new premiere date is expected to be announced in the near future.
