Earlier this week, She-Hulk: Lawyer star Tatiana Maslanycommented on the second season that he didn’t think it would happen, saying, “I think we went over our budget, and Disney said ‘no thanks.'” It seemed like it was pretty clear that we wouldn’t be seeing a second season of the Marvel series .
Now, a new report from io9 has offered an update stating that the series isn’t necessarily dead after all. The report explains: “Maslany’s comments are fundamentally accurate, they just lack context. That context is when CEO Bob Iger returned to Disney and changed much of Marvel’s direction, everything was re-evaluated.”
The report goes on to say, “So even if Marvel fixes everything, it’s not like a second season of She-Hulk has been completely abandoned. It just seems less likely than not at the moment.”
So basically, Marvel and Disney are still in the process of figuring out which projects they want to move forward with and which projects to abandon, and She-Hulk isn’t definitively off the table…yet. But the series caused an upheaval at Disney as Iger was “apoplectic” over widespread major visual effects problems with Marvel when he returned to take charge at Disney. THE She-Hulk The visual effects problems in particular were said to be a “symptom of a deeper rot, namely a lack of oversight over script development”. Such scripts have been described as “half-baked”.
Regarding Maslany’s comment about wasting their budget, it was also revealed that a single episode of She-Hulk it cost $25 million to produce. I’d be surprised if Marvel moved forward with a second season, but io9 is giving fans of the show hope that it could actually happen. We’ll just have to wait and see!
If Marvel were to move forward with a second season, they would definitely cut the budget. Do you think Marvel will move forward with a She-Hulk: Lawyer Season 2?
