Netflix has released the trailer for their upcoming Valentine’s Day buddy comedy, Players. The film stars a solid presenting ensemble Gina Rodriguez (Joan the Virgin, Not dead yet), Damon Wayans Jr. (New girl, Happy ending), Joel Courtney (The kissing booth movie), Augustus Prew (Charlie St. Cloud, Kick ass 2), Liza Koshy (Lisa on request, Good burger 2), Ego Nwodim (Saturday night live, Good burger 2), Marin Hinkle (Two men and a half, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), AND Tom Ellis (Isn’t that romantic?, Lucifer).
The film is directed by Trish Sie (Pitch Perfect 3, The Sleepover) from a screenplay written by Whit Anderson (Reckless, Ozarks).
The synopsis reads:
New York sportscaster Mack (Gina Rodriguez) has spent years devising successful “games” with best friend Adam (Damon Wayans Jr.) and their gang. While it’s led to countless one-night stands over the years, following their show comes with a strict set of ground rules, chief among them: You can’t build a relationship out of an “act.” However, when Mack unexpectedly falls in love with her latest target, the dashing war correspondent Nick (Tom Ellis), she begins to rethink the game entirely. As the lines between work, play, friendship and romance begin to blur, Mack must learn what it takes to go from just scoring to playing forever.
This seems like a fun comedy to watch on Valentine’s Day that would work for anyone, regardless of gender or relationship status. Check out the trailer below and watch Players on Netflix this Valentine’s Day, February 14th.
