Martin Scorsese hopes to work with Daniel Day-Lewis once again on a film

Director Martin Scorsese worked with the actor Daniel Day Lewis on two films and hopes to have the opportunity to work with the actor once again.

THE The Flower Moon Assassins The director recently received a Best Director award at the National Board of Review Awards from Daniel Day-Lewis. Scorsese commented on his past collaborations with Day-Lewis and said:

“We made two films together. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life, I have to say. Maybe there’s time for one more.

The first time Scorsese and Day-Lewis worked together was in 1993 The age of innocence, also starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Winona Ryder. They then worked together in 2002 New York gangswhere Day-Lewis played Bill the Butcher, a performance that earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the 75th Academy Awards.

I would love to see Scorsese and Day-Lewis work together on another film! But Day-Lewis retired from acting in 2017. It would be great to see Day-Lewis acting again in general, but we’ll just have to wait and see if Scorsese can convince him to retire. I hope it does! Scorsese managed to bring Joe Pesci out of retirement to star in 2019 films The Irishso it might be possible.

Speaking at the National Board of Review Awards, Day-Lewis said of Scorsese: “I was a teenager when I discovered Martin’s work. With a light of his own creation he illuminated unknown worlds that pulsated with a dangerous and irresistible energy, worlds that to me were mysterious and absolutely fascinating. He illuminated the vast and wonderful panorama of what is possible in cinema and clarified for me what one must ask of oneself to work with faith.”
