SHERLOCK creator Steven Moffat says he wants to make a British version of THE WEST WING series

Doctor who writer and Sherlock Creator Steven Moffat says he would like to face the very famous Emmy Award winner Aaron Sorkin series The West Wingand adapt it for British TV. Speaking to The Times, Moffat said he believes “any attempt to take contemporary politics seriously” has been missing from British television drama, and said: “I think it might be necessary.”

Moffat elaborated, saying:

“We have a problem. We think being cynical is sophisticated, but that’s how teenagers think. Our cynicism about our politics has produced cynical politicians. If you tell a child he is bad, he becomes bad. If you tell politicians they are a bunch of selfish maniacs, then what’s the point of trying to be anything else?”

The writer and producer added that his version of the political drama would still be entertaining, noting:

“Things that make me laugh are huge for me. It’s the truth in speed. Drama is when you try to be profound, and comedy is when you succeed.”

Moffat is a great creator and I think he could easily pull off a show like this. I would prefer him to come back to do more seasons Sherlockand I hope that one day this is still a possibility, but for now Moffat is working on the limited drama series Douglas is canceledhero Hugh Bonneville, Karen GillanAND Ben Mileswhich is currently in production.
