Disney Cruella was a fantastic film and one of my favorite live-action adaptations made by Disney Studios. It was just a really well made and fun movie, and the studio has been working on trying to make a sequel.
The director of the first film Craig Gillespie and writer Tony McNamara they are returning to tell the next chapter of the story. Emma Stone will also reprise her role as Cruella and during an interview with Varietyoffered an update on where the sequel currently stands:
“Hopefully sooner, rather than later. There is a work in progress going on. Yeah yeah. We’ll see… She’s amazing, so we’ll see.”
Although it would be fun to see the Cruella The story continues, it would also be nice if we never had a sequel. That first film is strong on its own.
Cruella, set in 1970s London at the height of the punk rock revolution, “follows a young con artist named Estella, a smart and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her role models. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they manage to build a life for themselves on the streets of London. One day, Estella’s talent for fashion attracts the attention of Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is incredibly chic and terrifyingly haute. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will lead Estella to embrace her evil side and become the raucous, fashionable, vengeance-hungry Cruella.
