Iconic Italian director of horror films Dario Argento is the subject of a new documentary film titled Dario Argento Panic, which was picked up by Shudder. A new trailer has been released that features interviews with notable filmmakers and talent that help paint a portrait of the director and his achievements.
THE Dario Argento Panic the synopsis reads: “In the secluded environment of hotel rooms, Dario Argento crafted his greatest cinematic creations, seeking solace in the outside world to delve into his nightmares. Now, he finds himself in a hotel room to return to the same environment that ignited his creative fervor to finish his latest screenplay and participate in an intimate interview, all while being followed by a film crew documenting his life for a film about his illustrious career. .”
The documentary is described as “a deep and immersive dive into Argento’s creative process and life and features exclusive interviews with the legendary director and insights from other acclaimed directors such as Gaspare Noé, Guillermo del Toro AND Nicolas Winding Ref about his impact on the horror genre and on generations of other filmmakers.”
Suspiria by Argento was the film that brought me closer to Italian horror cinema. This led me down the crazy rabbit hole of Italian horror cinema, and some of the films I discovered will haunt me until the day I die.
The documentary will arrive on Shudder on February 2, 2024, after having its world premiere at the 2023 Venice Film Festival.
