The fun new trailer for LISA FRANKENSTEIN captures the spirit of classic ’80s teen movies

Focus Features has released a full trailer for its upcoming coming-of-age horror comedy Lisa Frankenstein. It looks like a fun, playful and unique take on the classic Frankenstein story that sets it in the 1980s. In fact, I love the whole ’80s vibe of the movie, and this trailer captures the spirit of high school teen comedies of that era.

Lisa Frankenstein comes from the writer Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s body) and director Zelda Williamsthe daughter of Robin Williams. Movie stars Kathryn Newton (Capricious) as an unpopular high school student who reanimates a corpse, played by Cole Sprouse (Riverdale), during a thunderstorm and begins to transform him into the man of her dreams using the broken tanning bed in her garage.

The film is described as “a RAGE love story between a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a good looking corpse. After a series of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness… and a few missing body parts along the way.”

Williams is making her directorial debut with the film and described it as a “crazy, wonderful zombie movie.” He added: “I know Hollywood has a bad reputation for regurgitating sequels and remakes and reboots over and over and over… and yes, it absolutely does! But it’s also finally letting me make the craziest, most wonderful zombie script I’ve ever seen”. read and for this I will be forever grateful!”

The film is also the protagonist Carla Gugino (The Fall of House Usher), Lisa Soberano (Alone together), Joe Chrest (Stranger things) AND Henry Eikenberry (The crowded room).

Lisa Frankenstein will arrive in theaters on February 9, 2024.
