Jack Black joins the cast of Warner Bros.’ MINECRAFT film alongside Jason Momoa

Black Jack (School of rock, Free Nacho, Jumanji, The Super Mario Bros. movie) joined the cast of Warner Bros.’ the next big tentpole movie, Minecraftin which he will star next Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Emma Myers (Wednesday, Family change), Danielle Brooks (Orange is the new black, Pacifier) AND Sebastian Eugene Hansen (Only Mercy, Lisey’s story).

Sandbox title Mojang is the best-selling video game of all time, with 300 million copies sold and nearly 140 million monthly active players. The plot of the film is still under wraps, but Jared Hesse (Napoleon’s dynamite, Free Nacho) will be the director, and with several names attached to the script, writing credits are still being finalized. It is reported that Black will take on the role of Steve in the film.

Minecraft is currently in production and will be released in theaters on April 4, 2025.
