A new rumor has surfaced regarding a pair of Marvel film projects that Sony Pictures is developing. According to The Streamr Caiden’s canethe studio is developing the Doctor Octopus and Mysterio films.
The biggest thing about this rumor is that it’s been reported that Sony is looking to recast Otto Octavius and Quentin Beck. The studio is said to be eyeing Hannibal Hugh Dancy to play Doc Ock, who he was famously played by Alfredo Molina. There’s no telling who might take over Spider-Man: Far From Home star Jake Gyllenhaal like Mysterio.
The big question with this entry is…is Sony Pictures really that bad at recasting these characters to make solo films!? I mean, they have yet to make a real Marvel villain movie with Venom and Mysterio both being extremely disappointing franchises.
There are no further details on what might be going on here, but I hope this rumor turns out to be bullshit. If Sony wants to try to make Marvel movies that have a chance of success, make new Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield!
