Some new story details have emerged for the highly anticipated X-Men ’97 animated series. If all of this actually turns out to be true, fans would be in for a treat with a video game-inspired episode and what we’ll see in the finale. Possible spoilers ahead.
The official synopsis for the series reads: “Storm and Wolverine try to continue the X-Men. Magneto arrives and wants to step up for Charles Xavier. Sinister arrives to try to end the X-Men once and for all.”
The series begins with Magneto and the X-Men after Professor X leaves for Shi’ar space in the series finale of the original show. The series brings back the original voice cast included Cal Dodd (Glutton), Lenore Zann (Rascal), Giorgio Buzza (Beast), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Chris Potter (Gambitto), Catherine Disher (Jean Grey), Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler) e Christopher Britton (Left Minister).
The new information comes to us from Scooper @CanWeGetToastwho shares that the series may end up offering a three-part finale, which will take place in episodes 8, 9 and 10. It is explained that Nathan Summers aka Cable will return, and the X-Men will face Mister Sinister, Bastion and a deadly new horde of Sentinels.
It has also been reported that there is a video game-inspired episode that will see Jubilee and her boyfriend, Sunspot, trapped in a 16-bit Mojo video game on her birthday. Rumor has it that part of this episode will be animated in the style of a 16-bit video game, which should be fun!
We will soon know whether these rumored details turn out to be true or not. All I know is that I’m excited about this series and hope it eventually becomes a great animated show! Some footage was shown at Comic-Con earlier this year and you can read it here.
