The film would be built upon various Nintendo films in the same way Marvel built Avengers. Super Smash Bros. it will be the Avengers film of the Nintendo Cinematic Universe. The big question is, how many characters would they reunite for the Super Smash Bros. movie? There were originally 12 playable characters in the first video game, which is probably the way to go. But now there are 89 characters, so they could pretty much take whoever they wanted from those characters that Nintendo owns the rights to. Maybe they’ll try to mix things up with co-owned characters.
The Super Mario Bros. movie It already featured many playable characters from the Smash series, including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Yoshi, Piranha Plant, and Bowser. They could easily be joined by other Nintendo characters from franchises such as Metroid, Star Fox, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Splatoon, Pikmin, F-Zero and Animal Crossing.
