Jason Momoa shares his hilarious response to finding out he was cast as AQUAMAN after a confusing audition process

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom star Jason Momoa recently shared the story of what her first experience auditioning for a DC movie was like. He had no idea who he was auditioning for initially and after the long and confusing process he learned that he had been given the role of Aquaman, and his response to the shocking news was hilarious. Momoa explained to Fandango:

“Well, I originally thought I was going to play Lobo from the beginning because, I got called, I auditioned for Batman. And I almost didn’t. Because I was like, ‘This is stupid. It’s not going to be me. Why am I auditioning for Batman?” But it was just an ordinary hearing. And then I get called right after and it’s announced to me. I’m like, ‘Oh man, of course he’ll play ‘bad boy.’ There aren’t many guys who can tear those two apart. So, I thought, ‘Yeah, I’m going to go in and beat them up and die like I did.’

So, Momoa thought he was initially going to audition for Lobo, so when he was called to offer him the role his expectations were completely different. She went on to share how she found out she was playing Aquaman and her hilarious response to him:

“Anyway, I got called into the office and was told, ‘Well… do you know who you’re going to play?’ And I’m like yeah, Lobo! Yeah, sure, he’s the only one who can fight Batman and Superman. He’s like, ‘What?! Lobe? No, he’s not in this universe.” I thought, “What? Who the hell am I supposed to play?” Man, I wish I had recorded it, because it was like ‘Aquaman’. I was like, ‘What the fuck are you talking about.'”

You really couldn’t ask for a better response from an actor cast as Aquaman, “What the fuck are you talking about?” He made me laugh.

Either way, Momoa’s time as Aquaman is coming to an end Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomand then he’ll finally play Lobo, a role he’s wanted from the beginning, and it’s a role he’ll be great at. Speaking about Lobo, the actor said:

“So, Lobo… I used to collect comics and I don’t do much anymore, but he was always my favorite. And I always wanted to play Lobo because I was like, ‘Hello?’, he’s pretty much perfect.” .
