Six-time Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams has signed on to star in and executive produce the upcoming limited series adaptation of The Holdouta dramatic thriller written by the Oscar winner Graham Moore (The imitation game), based on his novel of the same name. Adams, known for her roles in Enchanted, The fighter, The American hustle AND Doubtstarred in the 2018 HBO limited thriller series Sharp objectsfor which she won the Critics Choice Award and was nominated for an Emmy.
The Holdout is described as “an investigation into a legal drama that meets a murder in the wake of The night of with a dual-timeline mystery. The Holdout is set in Los Angeles and follows a woman (Adams) who finds herself playing multiple roles: juror, lawyer, investigator and suspect.
The synopsis reads:
“Ten years after Maya Seale turned the tables with a hugely controversial verdict, a fellow juror is found dead in her hotel room, all evidence pointing to her. Now she must prove her innocence by getting to the bottom of a case that is far from closed. As the current murder investigation intertwines with the story of what really happened during their deliberations, told in turn by each of the jurors, the secrets they have all kept threaten to come to light, with drastic consequences for all subjects involved.
Amy Adams is a fantastic actress and always makes interesting projects with complex characters and plots. I can’t wait to see what happens The Holdoutand find out where it will end up once the bidding war for the series calms down.
