I’ve noticed a lack of enthusiasm for Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Echo. When it was announced that Marvel would be dropping all episodes at once on Disney+, fans thought it was Marvel showing they had no faith in the project. There were some behind-the-scenes issues during the production of the series, but Marvel and the creative team managed to resolve them.
Members of the media had the opportunity to watch the first three episodes of the show and some of them shared their reactions on social media. Virtually all the reactions I’ve seen are positive! People love what they’ve seen of the series so far and describe it as brutal, violent, dark, gory and down to earth.
Reactions praise the series and its star Alaqua Cox and tell us if you liked the series Reckless, you will like what it has to offer, which is encouraging. I was hoping this show would do well and these early reactions are exciting to see. Let’s hope the show ends up being great!
Check out the reactions below:
I liked the first two episodes of #ECHO which had an amazing (and violent) fight scene that I want to watch again and again. The sound design is 🔥
The brilliant Alaqua Cox continually draws me in, but I found the narrative and pacing to be shaky.
I’m curious to see the rest! pic.twitter.com/tTuSo3L04s

If the MCU’s world-ending stakes, you want something more grounded #Echo it’s the gritty tonic. Two episodes watched and it’s a hard-hitting action thriller with a great sense of Native American culture. I can’t wait to see the final three when they come out in January. pic.twitter.com/1dS9wjHTNj

I saw the first two episodes of #echo tonight and I will have many thoughts. I think fans of Netflix’s Daredevil will love it. It’s like Marvel is remembering that it can be violent and dark. Alaqua Cox is amazing! Even though I don’t love all the creative decisions pic.twitter.com/qvujfoAKiT

Urgent TGA cause, forgot to post 🤦♂️ I watched the first 3 episodes of Marvel Studios’ #Echo. I personally didn’t like all parts, the show is definitely brutal, dark, has quiet moments with a strong focus on Maya. Daredevil fans will also no doubt like what they did on the show. pic.twitter.com/vgOje1SJRt

I saw 3 eps of #Echo | A grounded, character-driven story with hints of bigger things to come. The strong focus on Maya’s indigenous heritage and personal history intrigues me; and while some quiet moments slow the pace; when the action scenes come, they are truly brutal. pic.twitter.com/yCrcIdV82l

#Echo – I have to see the first 3 episodes. More mature than the others #disneyplus #wonder shows, great fight scene with Daredevil. I really liked Kingpin. Fabulous action. It feels more “TV”. Lowest stake, perfect for the new Spotlight brand. I can’t wait to see the other episodes on January 10th. pic.twitter.com/Vne3lkxPYk

The series centers on Maya Lopez as she “struggles to reconnect with her Native American roots while balancing aspirations of a life of crime as the successor to Wilson Fisk’s brutal legacy (Vincenzo D’Onofrio) aka Kingpin. In the first episode we are introduced to Maya Lopez and her struggles.”
Speaking about the series, when Echo director and executive producer Sydney Freeland was asked about Kingpin’s presence in the series, the director responded, “I’ll say very big. Yes. It’s one of the foundational relationships of the entire series, the relationship between Kingpin and Maya. And we find out in a way that he becomes a sort of surrogate father to her. It’s one of the foundational relationships of the entire series, I will say that.”
Echo was developed by Ethan Cohen AND Emily Cohen, who are writers and executive producers of the show. The series is also the protagonist Charlie CoxZahn McClarnon, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Cody Lightning, Devery JacobsAND Graham Greene.
All five episodes will release on Disney+ and Hulu on April 9, 2024.
