David Ayer remains optimistic about his 2016 average Suicide squad will see the light.
The director said in a new interview that he is “hopeful” that his version of the DC film will eventually become a reality, even if certain forces are preventing it.
“I will be hopeful. “You know, there are a lot of people who are interested in certain stories and don’t want them to see the light of day,” Ayer said. Total film in an interview. “So there is a huge political backlash against it, because if this clip is released, it will remove the cowardice and general nonsense about how the film was handled and how the actors did this amazing job…”
He continued: “This story is going to explode once people see the film. But it’s coming. Something will happen. Something is revealed. The truth always comes out. It always comes out.”
Earlier this year, Ayer shared on social media that he spoke with DC Studios co-president James Gunn, who assured him that his version of the film “will have time to be shared.”
“All I know is that my unreleased film is doing way better than the studio release,” Ayer told X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, in August. “The interest in my clip is for the eye[n] looks real and organic. And Gunn told me that it would [sic] Time to share. He definitely deserves to start his DC Universe without more drama about old projects. In a way I am chained to this thing. I’m riding a tiger here and I’m handling this situation as best I can. Life is a very strange journey.”
Ayer has also previously spoken about the “heartache” he suffered because the Hollywood studio completely changed the film.
“Hollywood, I tell people, is like watching someone you love get screwed by someone you hate,” Ayer said during a television appearance. Real one with Jon Bernthal Podcast. “The big one does Suicide squad. This shit broke me. It cracked my ass.”
Suicide squad It starred Jared Leto as Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot and Viola Davis as Amanda Walker. The franchise was reimagined in 2021 under the vision of James Gunn in a film titled The Suicide Squad.
