Peaky Blinders producer Caryn Mandabach Productions will develop a historical drama series titled Civil blood. The show is in development with End of the damn world director Jonathan Entwistleand it looks like it will tell an interesting story.
The story is set in 17th century England and follows the adventures of a young woman growing up in wartime. The series is described as a “mash-up of coming-of-age stories with high-stakes action and world-changing ideas.”
The project was written by Clarke Cat AND Michael Hirstand it’s based on an original idea they had together Dario Poloni. Hirst is the creator of Vikings AND Billy the babyand Clarke was a writer Good omens AND Ten percent.
Entwistle said in a statement: “This script has history, heart, family and war, all wrapped up in a punk attitude. This is a little explored historical period, and certainly not from this point of view. There is a sense of the American Western in this world. At the center is an iconic protagonist with a great pop sensibility – someone who thinks history only happens to other people, until catastrophic events cause the story to hurtle into the present.”
Creative Director CMP Jamie Glazebrook described Entwistle’s vision as “fresh, vibrant, indelible” and said that Hirst and Clarke’s script is “provocative, deeply moving and deeply funny”.
