Director Tim Burton has officially concluded production Beetle juice 2 for Warner Bros. The director shared the news on social media with a photo of himself on set. The photo features a familiar location from the first film, namely the waiting room of The Neitherworld. The image also came with a note from Burton that read: “Just finished shooting Cockroach juice. Thanks to all participants.”
When the Hollywood strikes broke out, production on the film was halted with only two days left. So when Hollywood reopened its doors and the film went back into production, Burton only needed a couple of days to finish the film.
The film brings Michael Keaton returns as the main character along with Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz. The film is also the protagonist Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s daughter Astrid; Monica Bellucci as Beetlejuice’s wife in the story; AND Willem Dafoe plays a macabre law enforcement officer in the Underworld.
Previously speaking about the making of the film, Keaton said: “Beetlejuice is the most fun you can have working, it’s so much fun, it’s so great. And you know what that is? We’re doing it exactly the way we’ve been doing it.” the first movie… There’s a woman in the great afterlife waiting room with literally a fishing line—I want people to know because I love it—that she pulls on a cat’s tail to make it move.
The director of photography of the film, Haris ZambarloukosHe also offered some story insights, saying the film will tell a story about family: “Beetlejuice at its core [2] it’s the story of a family, and now it’s 30 years later and what are the complexities and the human condition of keeping a family together for all that time set in the craziest world possible? That’s why I choose projects. That human connection is always at the forefront for me.”
Alfred Gough AND Miles Millar (Wednesday and Smallville) wrote the screenplay along with an earlier draft of Seth Grahame-Smith AND David Katzenberg. Katzenberg and Grahame-Smith are also producing. Danny Elfmann he is returning to compose the score.
Beetle juice 2 will be released in theaters on September 6, 2024.
