Kelly kicked off the special with a festive performance of “Underneath the Tree.” She then welcomed everyone to the “most spectacular party of the season”. “I am very excited to call this city and Rockefeller Center my new home, and I can’t imagine a better way to start Christmas this year than to be part of this beautiful New York tree lighting tradition,” she said Kelly in a statement before the special.

The 2023 tree lighting marks the 20th anniversary of Kelly’s first birthday Christmas at Rockefeller Center performance. He has returned several times over the years to help out at Christmas and performed songs from his hit Christmas albums.
Kelly was accompanied by TODAY anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al RokerAND Craig Melvin. They were there for the epic tree lighting. The annual Christmas special celebrated the lighting of the 80-foot-tall, 45-foot-wide Norway Spruce in Vestal, New York. The tree is adorned with more than 50,000 multicolored LED lights and topped with a three-dimensional Swarovski star covered in 3 million crystals.
