Zack Snyder recently spoke about his part Justice League, revealing new details about how he actually came to be. He also addressed the toxic fandom and defended his fans who made the Snyder Cut. The director also shared his thoughts on the current state of superhero films and revealed which film he would return to DC Studios to make.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Snyder talked about what he was initially trying to do Justice League before leaving the project and being replaced by Joss Whedonthat changed everything:

“We cared deeply about what we were doing. We weren’t trying to make an Avengers movie. We weren’t. We didn’t know how, frankly. They brought in someone who did. I never saw the [Whedon version]but that wasn’t the answer.”

No, it certainly wasn’t. Whedon’s Justice League the movie didn’t work at all. Once word got out that there was a version of Syder’s film, his fans campaigned relentlessly to convince WB to release it. Initially, fans’ cries fell on deaf ears, but Snyder revealed that, on Ann Sarnoff’s first day as president and CEO of Warner Bros., she walked into her office to find dozens of bouquets of flowers and fruit baskets sent by Snyder Cut supporters. .

Snyder said a note read, “Welcome to Warner Bros., now release the Snyder Cut,” and added that there was “One after another after another…She didn’t even know what it was. he wasn’t even aware of the saga. When he told me the story, he said, ‘This is the job? Manage it? I didn’t know this was a real thing. Now it was the right thing.”

By Zack Snyder Justice League was finally released on HBO Max, followed by reports of toxic fans sending abuse, death threats, and even enlisting robots to mimic the groundswell of support the director’s cut garnered. Snyder himself has been accused of weaponizing fans. When asked about the fans, he said:

“I won’t comment on the details of whether they are good or bad, whether they are toxic or overbearing. This is in every chat room. It’s what comes with the Internet. But I know that the work they did on some The level was good. I can say for sure that they did well. This is undeniable.”

He specifically addressed bots:

“The truth is? It doesn’t matter. The movie got made. If they had been smart enough to employ robots in this thing, then they would have won. That movie has no existing business – and it does.”

When talking about the current state of superhero movies, he believes it “hasn’t evolved” and admits “I no longer have the excitement I had before.”

He went on to say that he’s done with comic book movies for now, but admits that if the co-CEO of DC Studios James Gunn calls and asks him to direct anything, he would be available to direct a film… a version faithful to the comics The return of the Dark Knight but only if it is “a faithful representation of the graphic novel”.

As for Marvel, he said he would be open to directing a Daredevil and Elektra film and an adaptation of the Frank Miller film. Electra lives again“But that’s about it,” he said.
