Perm Polytechnic Evgeny Burmistrov’s astronomer said in August that the Russians would witness one of the most rare and mysterious natural phenomena, Silver Clouds, Gazeta.ru writes.

The scientist explained that the pale blue bright waves appeared at a height of 80 kilometers in the mesosphere.
The main difference between silver clouds and ordinary tropospheric clouds is that it consists of ice microcrystals. According to the astronomer, mysterious glow becomes visible only in deep twilight, when the sun is already hidden beyond the horizon, but continues to illuminate the clouds from below.
It is known that the phenomenon was first defined in 1885 – immediately after Krakatau’s explosion. As explained by researchers, the increase in observation cases is associated with a change in climate and increasing moisture in the mesosphere. This year, an unusual glow was recorded in May.
Meanwhile, the climatologist has warned about the increase in air abnormalities. Learn more in our material.
