Marvel’s “special presentations” are not expected to advance to Disney+

Going forward, it looks like we won’t see any more Marvel special presentations like Werewolf at night AND Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Bob Iger is back at the helm of Disney+ and is strengthening the ship, urging Marvel to trim the fat and focus fully on the projects that matter most. According to Scoper Daniele Richtmann, the plan is to shelve the specials, as the two previously released have underperformed on the streamer. I loved them both and my kids have been watching them again GOTG Holiday Special so many times, I find it hard to believe, but I see how features released on streaming don’t generate the same kind of revenue as theatrical releases.

As for future planned specials, including The Witches’ Road “Special”, they are expected to follow the series Agate, as well as the “Special Presentations” revolving around characters like Nova and the Silver Surfer, all we know right now is that they will be “handled differently,” suggesting the former could be put into his own series or perhaps released in another format. The other characters will likely be featured in their upcoming ensemble films.

What do you think about this change in the future?
