It turns out that the author of The witcher book series Andrzej Sapkowski is a big fan of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. In fact, he says that Cavill’s voice is Geralt’s voice in his books. During the Vienna Comic Con he told the German publication Beyond Pixels (via Redanian Intelligence):
“There are only letters [in my books]. But then I also saw the Netflix series and I would say that Cavill’s voice is right up my alley. So my idea of Geralt’s voice would be Cavill.”
Fans enjoyed Cavill as Geralt over the course of three seasons, but he has since been replaced Liam Hemsworth, which doesn’t really seem to excite any fans. But it will be like this until the end of the series.
The writer previously spoke about how his contributions to the series had been ignored by the show’s creative team, saying:
“Well, the set was amazing, it was so wow, everything. But no, maybe I gave them some ideas, but they never listened to me. They never listened to me, but it’s normal, ‘Who is this? He’s the writer, and nobody.'”
Sapkowski also shared how it’s a strange experience for him to see adaptations of his work, saying:
“Every adaptation I’ve seen has been weird to me, I guess that’s the right word, weird. Every visual adaptation is weird to me. I look at it and go, ‘Woah, is that how they imagine it? Interesting.’ Sometimes the visual impression is very beautiful to me, sympathetic. Sometimes it’s not, but I won’t elaborate on it.”
We’ll likely see The Witcher return to Netflix in 2025.
