Thanks to Empire, we have a new photo to share with you Peter Dinklage as Winston Gooze The toxic avenger remake. The film’s director also talked about the kind of violence we can expect from the film.
Macon Blair promises that the film will include “Itchy and Scratchy-type violence,” which of course he’s referencing The Simpsons‘ intensified cat-versus-mouse comedy sketches. He explained: “We have a guy who sticks his head in a car engine and it makes his head shake. It was a gag I was fond of.
So it sounds like fun! The over-the-top violence in this film has been mocked since it was first announced and there is no doubt that the film will earn its R rating for the exuberant amount of blood and violence.
During the making of the film, the director explained that he thought the studio would not accept his ideas: “I kept expecting Legendary to say, ‘This is not what we want,’ but they kept accepting the things I proposed.”
So now we’re going to have a really crazy movie! Blair adds that when making the film he “embraced the silliness and trashiness, while still wanting it to be a fun, feel-good, rock’n’roll, crowd-pleasing time.”
The film is described as a “new retelling of Lloyd Kaufmann”The Toxic Avenger”, and it is explained that “while the original film (premiered in 1984, almost 40 years ago!) followed the fate of Melvin Ferd Junko III (Mitch Cohen), who goes from zero to toxic hero in a case of bullying gone wrong, Macon BlairThe contemporary version of follows a horribly deformed creature of superhuman size and strength all its own.”
Peter Dinklage he plays downtrodden janitor Winston Gooze who, after falling into a vat of toxic waste, becomes none other than The Toxic Avenger. This timely retelling lives up to its environmental themes as Winston clashes with the evil forces of greed and corruption to save his son, his friends and his community.”
The synopsis also points out: “While this story exists on its own terms, the spirit undoubtedly remains connected to the original. Troma fans old and new will be pleased to know that the film has been rated “R” for violence and gore, per Troma tradition.”
The film is also the protagonist Elijah Wood, Julia Davis, Taylor Paige, Kevin BaconAND Jacob Tremblay.
