I was lucky and never needed glasses. Most of the time I wore glasses was during a few sunny days while wearing sunglasses for two or three hours. But sitting in front of the TV or doing anything else in my life, glasses have never adorned my face. However, I occasionally experienced eye strain while gaming all night or watching TikTok for too long and using Blue Light Glasses helped with this. While they’re cute, I’ve never liked keeping them on for more than an hour and they really don’t seem to help much. But Intercept by Gunnar Optiks has made a high-quality pair of Blue Light glasses that are incredibly comfortable and work incredibly well. The Intercept model is worth its premium price if you find yourself dealing with any kind of eye strain while using screens for any length of time.
Gunnar Optiks has been making blue light glasses for some time, but this year we see a collaboration with Assassin’s Creed: Mirage to make the Intercept edition of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. While it may seem like a mouthful of words, it is in the simplicity of the product that it excels so much. The design of the glasses is elegant, smooth and familiar to most other glasses. Dark, matte gray and orange accents and designs are crisp, clean and trendy. The yellow lenses match the color scheme and give the cutting-edge look that accompanies the Assassin’s Creek style. In addition to the good looks, the glasses are incredibly comfortable and lightweight. I often forgot I was wearing them until I got into bed, went to the bathroom and saw myself in the mirror, or even left the house. In addition to their feather-like weight, they are quite durable. From accidentally sitting on them to falling multiple times, they’ve held up a lot and kept their shape and style perfectly.
Let’s now come to the actual performance of the glasses. Do they help with eye strain? Absolutely yes. They honestly make brighter screens on the darkest nights pleasant to look at without any noticeable darkening of the image. I’ve played and watched TV for over four hours straight and my eyes feel almost nothing, it’s truly amazing how well they work. The orange/yellow tint of the lenses takes a minute for your eyes to adjust to, but after that there is no noticeable change in color perception until you take them off.
Glasses boils down to three main caveats: Do you suffer from eye strain when using screens? Are you willing to spend a premium price? And how much do you value comfort? Considering these things, Intercept Assassin’s Creed Mirage Edition could be worth the premium price and greatly improve your gaming experience.
