Earlier in the year, Disney announced that they would be relaunching the Toy Story franchise Story of toys 5. Fans assumed that the main actors from the previous films would return, but now at least we know that much Tim Allen AND Tom Hanks they will return to voice Buzz Lightyear and Woody respectively.
In a recent appearance on Tonight’s show with Jimmy Fallon, Allen confirmed that Disney has approached the duo about reprising their iconic roles. He said:
“Bob Iger, head of Disney, said it was on the air. He actually said it would happen. They contacted me and Tom to reprise the roles. They didn’t say anything about it. You wonder if four was too many. Five will be too many ? According to the chatter, the writer who’s doing it wrote one of the best ones and said, ‘If I didn’t get it right, I wouldn’t do it.’ So it could be a very, very interesting way to bring them together.”
I feel the same way. Disney will only move forward with another film in this beloved franchise if they have the perfect story in mind. Allen previously said he had a great idea for the next film, following Andy’s journey as an adult looking for his old toys to share with his kids. It would be a great idea, but we’ll just have to wait and see how it turns out.
