The photo above is our first look at the sequel Zack Snyder’S Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Firewhich is titled Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver. The story of these films explores the clash between the evil Imperium and a handful of warriors gathered to defend the vulnerable moon of Veldt.
During an interview with Empire, Snyder explained the films’ titles by saying, “We’ve had the titles for a long time.” He continued by saying:
“A Child Of Fire has a double meaning. The Daughter of Fire could be Princess Issa, this myth that runs through the stories. The robots we refer to as Anthony Hopkins’ character Jimmy were created to protect the unborn Issa and lost all purpose when she was murdered. Cora [Sofia Boutella’s character] she is also a child of fire: she was a war orphan. Her house was burned down and she was kidnapped and taken into the army”.
When it comes to The Scarifier title and how the sequel will be different from the first film, the director went on to say:
“[Kora’s] the nickname is Scargiver, which is also related to his relationship with Princess Issa. I think these two myths are woven together in a pretty interesting way. The second film is really a war film. In the beginning they harvest crops and we have a lot of stuff in the village, sort of the “Why We Fight” aspect of the film. We have time for relationships. Then the next thing is the big battle. It’s really funny.”
In the story, a ragtag group of rebels rises up to fight against a giant, evil empire. It is set in a “peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical regent Balisarius. They send a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from nearby planets to help them make a stand against the Tyrant.
This is a two-part film and each part will have an R-rated edition for fans to watch as well. Movie stars Charlie Hunnam, Ed Skrein, Bae Doona, Djimon Hounsou. Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Ed Skrein, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, Anthony Hopkins, AND Alfonso Herrera.
Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire will arrive on Netflix on December 22 after a limited theatrical release. Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver will arrive in April 2024.
