The creators of COBRA KAI say there is always the potential to revisit that universe before the release of the sixth and final season

Fans are eagerly awaiting the long-awaited sixth and final season of Netflix’s hit dramedy Cobra Kai. It will be bittersweet to see the story conclude and know that it’s the end of the road for the characters we’ve come to know and love over the course of the show’s first five seasons. But the creators of the show, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg AND Josh Heald, they say we should never say never to see these characters return. The trio sat down in a recent interview with Collider and Heald explained:

“We’ll never give an actual conclusion when it comes to anything. We love working in the ‘Cobra Kai’ universe, so there’s always the potential to revisit that world. We’re definitely thinking of other ideas within the Miyagi-verse, and it’s just a matter of time before we understand exactly which direction to go. […] We’re really excited about Season 6 of Cobra Kai. We will go out with a bang and it will be an amazing experience for fans of the franchise.”

That’s good to hear! It’s smart that they’re giving the show an ending at this point so we can see how this chapter ends, but maybe one day we’ll see a new story with Johnny and Daniel. Cobra Kai Season 6 will begin filming in early 2024. The final season will also premiere next year, but Netflix has not yet announced a specific release window. Stay tuned for updates.
