Netflix confirms that the new FEAR STREET movie is in development

For those of you who enjoyed Netflix’s R-rated trilogy adaptation R. L. Stine’S Street of fear, you’ll be happy to know that a new movie is currently in development. The news comes from Netflix Films’ Scott Stuberwho confirmed the news to Collider, saying:

“Obviously there are a lot of books. There’s a standalone we’re working on right now and we’re once again trying to get the script right, but I really like it, and so does the team. So I think if we could get the script right, there would be a great extension of that franchise.

Stuber didn’t share any further details about the project, but it will be interesting to see what story it tells. It’s hard to guess because, as Stuber said, there are a lot of books!

Stine previously offered an update on the franchise, saying they will “probably” make more Fear Street movies. He said:

“I’ve done everything you can think of and it’s all so far beyond what I ever dreamed of. When we started I said, “Let’s do two or three.” [Goosebumps books].’ I never imagined it would last this long. It’s all a big surprise to me. I’m excited to have a new TV show on the air [Disney+’s Goosebumps] and we’ll probably do more Fear Street movies as well, and you know, that’s a thrill for me.

The last time we heard about the series, it was said that “Netflix is very busy developing more Fear Street!” Stine also said:

“I… hear rumors of more Fear Street movies for Netflix, because the first ones did so well last summer. Those movies shocked me, because they were all R-rated, and I’ve never done anything R-rated! All those teenagers were getting cut. I thought, ‘Suddenly, I have a slasher movie!’”

The director of the films, Leigh Janiak, hopes that these first films are the start of a Marvel-style horror cinematic universe. She said:

“One of the coolest things about ‘Fear Street’ is the fact that the universe is big and allows for a lot of space. One of the things I talked about before I was hired was that we have the potential to create a horror Marvel [Cinematic Universe], where you can have slasher killers from many different eras. There’s the canon of our core mythology that’s built around the fact that the devil lives in Shadyside, so there’s room for everything else too.

“I think my hope is that people like it enough that we can start building [more], we can think about what another trilogy would be, what standalones would be, what TV would be. I don’t even think about it exactly like on TV or in movies anymore. That’s the thing about Netflix and what ‘Fear Street’ is, which is kind of a hybrid novelty. I’m excited about the possibility of what else could happen.”

The three films were based on Stine’s novels set in the town of Shadyside. The original series lasted 51 novels. The three films were released over the course of three weeks and tell a killer story about the sinister history of the town of Shadyside. In 1994, a group of teenagers discover that the terrifying events that have plagued their town for generations may all be connected. It’s a horror story with a murder mystery, and the group of teenagers the story centers around could be the next target.

Fear Street: 1994 – In 1994, in the aftermath of a brutal tragedy in Shadyside, Ohio, a group of teenagers discover that a series of terrifying events that have plagued their town for many years may not be random and that they may be the responsible. next victims.

Street of fear: 1978 – In 1978, Camp Nightwing is divided by the campers and counselors who come from the prosperous town of Sunnyvale and the campers and maintenance staff from the downtrodden town of Shadyside, but when the horrors of their towns’ shared history come to life, they must unite together to solve a terrifying mystery before it’s too late.

Fear Street: 1666 – In 1666, a colonial town is gripped by a hysterical witch hunt that will have deadly consequences for centuries to come, and it’s up to teenagers in 1994 to try to end their town’s curse, before it’s too much . late.

I enjoyed these films and can’t wait to see what Netflix and the creative team have planned for the next film series!
