Trailer for the film MEAN GIRLS: THE MUSICAL by Tina Fey

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Tina Fey’S Bad Girls: The Musical, a new theatrical film based on the hit Broadway play… which was based on the original 2004 film. It looks like the new film will provide a fun and entertaining cinematic experience. The whole concept is the same, but it’s been updated for a whole new generation of teenagers. After all, the original film will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year. Yes, it’s been 20 years since the first movie came out!

The film description reads: “From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, Bad Girls. New student Cady Heron (Angourie rice) is welcomed to the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics”, ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Renee Rep) and his henchmen Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). However, when Cady makes the serious misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend, Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), finds himself prey in Regina’s sights. As Cady prepares to defeat the group’s top predator with the help of her outcast friends, Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damiano (Jaquel Spivey), must learn to stay true to herself as she navigates the most unforgiving jungle of all: high school.

The creator of the musical, Jeff Richmondspoke about the film saying, “What we’re trying to do [with the movie] is to take the soundtrack that sounds like a Broadway soundtrack – in a good way – and [give] the film has a fresher palette. To make them sound more like things you want to listen to on Spotify, rather than when you’re sitting in the eighth row in the middle of a Broadway theater or the Pantages. It kind of makes it a fresher, younger take on the whole thing. We kind of reinvented the music for the film, so it’s really fun.”

Bad Girls: The Musical is directed by Samantha Jayne AND Arturo Perez Jr. from a screenplay by Tina Fey. Fey is also present in the film, Jenna Fisher, Philipps busy, Jon HammAND Tim Prati.

Bad Girls: The Musical will be released in theaters on January 12th.
