Quentin Tarantino’s Vista Theater in Los Feliz reopens its doors and celebrates his return with a screening of True love.
The filmmaker bought the theater in 2021 and after a “carefully planned three-year renovation” of the venue, Tarantino will host the special screening this Saturday, November 11.
“The Vista Theater is one of the last remaining independent theaters that has stood the test of time,” reads the description of the sold-out event that Tarantino will host. “Don’t miss out on making history and be the first to attend a special 35mm screening True love.”
The revamp “includes modern 35mm and 70mm film projection with powerful new sound, a cool new retro atmosphere and endless eye candy.”
There is a show by Eli Roth on November 17th Thanksgiving in 35mm takes over and Ridley Scott’s on November 22 Napoleon is gridded in 70 mm.
The Vista Theater reopens for its 100th anniversary, opening its doors on October 9, 1923 as the Lou Bard Playhouse. It was Tips with Baby Peggy, the film that was first screened at the facility.
True love is a 1993 romantic crime film directed by Tony Scott and written by Tarantino. The film stars Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt and Christopher Walken. The film’s plot revolves around a newly married couple, played by Slater and Arquette, who are on the run from the mafia after stealing a lot of drugs.
