The live-action film “How to Train Your Dragon” is delayed due to an actors’ strike

Further changes to the theatrical release date due to the 113-day actors’ strike. The good news: it will have no impact in 2024.

Universal and DreamWorks Animation announced Friday that their live-action version of the animated film has been filmed How to train your dragon easily is postponed from 14 March 2025 to 13 June 2025.

Uni has already put the latter date on hold in the release calendar.

The new film is produced by three-time Oscar nominee Marc Platt (La La Land, Bridge of Spies), DeBlois and Emmy winner Adam Siegel (2 pistols, Driving force).

The animated trio Dragons Films grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide and received four Academy Award nominations and a Golden Globe win How to train your dragon 2.

How to train your dragon easily is about a hapless young Viking who wants to hunt dragons and becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself. The little boy discovers that there may be more to the creatures than he thought.

Universal also announced today that an untitled event film will be released on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

There are several untitled titles from major studios in the 2024 calendar. It remains to be seen if these are actual titles or if they are just temporary placeholders that will move on their own.
