Here are some movie trivia that I didn’t know about until recently. Director Brett Ratner I wanted to throw Sigourney Weaver as Emma Frost in the third X-Men movie, X-Men: The Last Stand.
This interesting information comes from the scriptr Dan Harris during an interview in 2004, before GeekTyrant even existed. Harris explained:
“We had been meaning to do ‘X-Men 3’ for a while and our big secret or coup was – and it’s not going to happen so it’s fine – we wanted to have a character who was Emma Frost, a famous ‘X-Men 3’ for a while and our big secret or coup was – and it’s not going to happen so okay Male character. Her name is the White Queen. We wanted to ask Sigourney [Weaver] be it. She was an empath in our version of the film, meaning she could control people’s emotions.”
Weaver is a great actress and fans love her, but casting her as Emma Frost would have been a very interesting and unexpected choice. I imagine the direction they were trying to take her character would have been a big departure from the comics, which a lot of comic book movies do anyway. But seeing Weaver’s portrayal of Emma Frost would have been fascinating. I’m sure he would have done something great with her.
Of course, the creative team changed direction and Emma Frost wasn’t even introduced the last Stand. What do you think of Weaver in the role of Emma Frost?
