EXCLUSIVE: Emmanuelle Chriqui and Hayes MacArthur will star A love like this, an indie romantic drama directed by John Asher and based on an original screenplay by Jeffrey W. Ruggles. The project recently received a preliminary agreement between SAG and AFTRA, allowing it to move forward.
The film, which is being produced in Malibu, is said to be a romantic story about two lovers who rent a beach house for a weekend, but there is more to their relationship than meets the eye.
Asher’s previous films include: A boy named Po, Someone marry me And Diamondsas well as in the TV series A tree hill.
A love like this is produced by Jordan Bogdonavage, Michael Manasseri, Sergey Shtern, Brett Gursky and Lee Levin. Lisa Alfelt, Carl Radke and Sarah Santos serve as executive producers. Jack DeCerchio serves as co-producer. Chriqui and MacArthur are also producers of the film.
Of the project, Bogdonavage said, “This film took almost ten years to make, so it was truly a labor of love for everyone involved.”
Gursky added: “From the moment I first read Jeffrey’s script that Jordan gave me, I knew we had to make this very special film. I also knew that John Asher was the director who could bring the vision to life. I sent it to him on Saturday and he said yes on Sunday morning. Then I gave it to Emmanuelle, who was really the perfect choice for the role of Leah, and she immediately wanted to be there too. Then John gave Hayes the job of playing Paul and a dream team was assembled.
Regarding the project’s ability to move forward despite the SAG-AFTRA strike, Chriqui and MacArthur said in a joint statement: “We are incredibly grateful to SAG for continuing to support independent films like ours. support and that they gave us the opportunity to make this film “twist” the guidelines of an interim agreement.”
Chriqui is known for her roles as Sloan McQuewick in all seven seasons of HBO consequence and as Lana Lang on the CW’s Superman & Lois. Her film roles include Don’t mess with Zohan and Cadillac Records And Super Troopers 2. MacArthur’s credits include TBS comedy series Angie Tribeca and that from Netflix Happy, happy, whatever. Next it’s his turn Dear Santa Claus starring Jack Black and directed by Bobby Farrelly.
