Director Michael Mann (Ferrari, Heat, The Last of the Mohicans) has joined a new film project and is preparing to develop a remake of the South Korean crime thriller Veteran. This news comes not long after the director confirmed it would be his next film Heat 2.
The official synopsis for the original 2015 film reads: “An honest cop seeks justice for an ordinary man against all odds. A rich boy seeks revenge on the policeman. The original film was directed by Ryoo Seung-wanand is said to have a “comic or audience-pleasing tone”.
Veteran is in early development and is working with the US and Korean wings of CJ ENM, Korea’s leading film and television conglomerate. While Mann is currently developing the film, we don’t know if Mann himself will direct it or if he’ll just handle producing and writing credits.
A source said: “We are developing a script with Michael Mann, but his role and our schedule are not yet set.” The project was in the works before the strikes, but at the moment it is not known when it will fully resume.
Mann is currently focusing his attention, focus and energy on the development of Heat 2which is set up at Warner Bros.
