Bleecker Street’s Stone Age Horror Thriller “The Origin” Has Been Retitled “Out Of Darkness” And Set Its Theatrical Release Date

EXCLUSIVE: The survival horror thriller of Bleecker Street the origin, which debuted at Fantastic Fest in September, is getting a title change. Now known as out of the darkness, The movie hits theaters on February 9.

Directed by Scottish helmsman Andrew Cumming (Appearance, click) and written by Ruth Greenberg (The spark) in her two film debuts, Out of the darkness follows a group of six people as they fight their way across the Narrow Sea in search of a new home. They are hungry, desperate and live 45,000 years ago. First they must find shelter and trek through the tundra desert to the distant mountains that promise numerous caves they need to survive. But as night falls, anticipation turns to fear and doubt as they realize they are not alone. As relationships within the group fall apart, one young woman’s determination reveals the terrible measures she has taken to survive.

The film was shot on location in the Scottish Highlands in a custom language called Tola, which was developed specifically for the project by a linguist and an archaeologist.

Out of the darkness A breakthrough performance for Safia Oakley-Green saw her win five British Independent Film Awards last year.

The photo was taken by Oliver Kassman (Saint Maud) and also Chuku Modu (Captain Marvel), Kit Young (Shadow and bone) and Iola Evans (Vote or die).

Two other major releases are currently dated February 9: Focus Features’ Lisa Frankenstein and Sony’s Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni film It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover.

deadlineDamon Wise, the film’s film critic, praised the film for its massive world-building and called the artistic choices “bold” and “incredibly visual”, as the craft “lends to a richer and more immersive experience in a big, dark theater .” He goes on to describe the film as “a cautionary tale as old as time – or as the supernatural sage Odal puts it: ‘The danger of bringing light into a dark place is discovering what lives in the dark.’ ‘

Bleecker’s upcoming slate includes Meg Ryan’s return to romantic comedies, What happens later in which she stars alongside David Duchovny (from November 3) and Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s sci-fi thriller. EAT starring Ariana De Bose. The company is also preparing the feel-good comedy The fantastic Four from award-winning filmmaker Jocelyn Moorhouse with Bette Midler and Susan Sarandon. In addition, there is The returnbased on Homer’s ancient classic The OdysseyOscar-nominated Uberto Pasolini’s next film, starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche, and legendary writer Mike Leigh’s next film are in post-production.
