Alex Wolff (Oppenheimer, Hereditary, Pig) will star in and direct a psychological thriller titled If it burns, which is said to be “dark and sexy.” She will direct from a script she wrote and will include the rest of the cast Vittoria Pedretti (You, Origin, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Asa Butterfield (Sex education, Ender’s Game, Hugo) AND Judge Smith (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor for Thieves, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom).
The film follows “a fiery young woman (Pedretti) who travels to Europe with her dysfunctional family after a traumatic accident. There she finds refuge and danger in a turbulent relationship with her enigmatic neighbor (Wolff), which, combined with growing family tensions and mysterious fires, threaten to push her to the breaking point.
Wolff said in a statement: “I am thrilled to embark on a journey with such extraordinary and courageous actors as Victoria, Asa and Justice. What we put on screen will be bold, fierce, tender and honest. I’m honored to be able to share it.”
If She Burns is produced by Jay Van Hoy (The Witch), Andrea Gordon (Castle in the ground), and Wolff, who as a professional musician and composer will also write and produce the music for the film with Karl McComas-Reichl.
Producers Gordon and Van Hoy said: “We are thrilled to partner with Mister Smith and help bring Alex’s powerful vision to life with this wonderful cast. Her evocative portrait of a young woman dealing with increasing internal and external pressure reaches a thrilling and touching climax in a perfectly heightened world where reality and perception are blurred.

For If She Burns, he has assembled a young, charming and talented cast, who are currently making their mark in cutting-edge cinema and television. Alex’s script sizzles with erotic tension and promises to give audiences a disturbing and mesmerizing experience.”
Filming of the film will begin in Italy in 2024.
