Ben Affleck he reprized his role as Batman for one scene in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but the cameo was cut. That news came after the film had undergone numerous reshoots. Now, director James Wan offered some insight into why the cameo was filmed in the first place.
During an interview with Empire, when Wan was asked if Affleck would appear in the film as Batman, he explained:
“Probably not. All I’ll say is that those scenes were just to have something in the bank in case we had to explain time continuity if we got out first.”
So, there was no real substance to the scenes involving Batman. This is a different explanation than what we got previously. The initial report said that Batman was cut from the film because James Gunn AND Pietro Safran “I don’t want to promise a cinematic universe that won’t happen, or overly tie it to past failures.” A source said: “It was quite chaotic.”
Regardless of the reason, Affleck won’t appear in the film, and it doesn’t matter. This is the last DC movie made under the old regime and will actually have nothing to do with the advancement of the DC Universe. It seems like this is one of the main reasons why there isn’t much excitement or hype for the film.
In the film, “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to defeat Aquaman once and for all,” the official synopsis of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. law. “This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever, as he wields the power of the mythical Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former king of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must put aside their differences to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family and the world from irreversible destruction.
Jason Momoa plays Aquaman in the film and he joins him Patrick Wilson like Orm, Amber heard like Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the role of Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanta, Dolph Lundgren as king Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
