THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO Series Advances to Amazon Studios with Showrunner

Amazon MGM Studios is moving forward with the previously announced series adaptation of Stieg Larsson‘S The girl with the dragon tattoo. It was announced that they are hiring Veena South to lead the project as showrunner.

Sud had some experience working on dark crime and mystery dramas while working as well The killing as executive producer and showrunner. That series aired its first three seasons on AMC while a fourth debuted on Netflix. He recently created and executive produced the Netflix series Seven seconds, which dealt with police violence and racism in America. She also served as a writer, executive producer and showrunner on the CBS police procedural Unsolved case.

When The girl with the dragon tattoo The series was first announced, it was reported that it would not be “a sequel or continuation of the story of the books or films into which they were adapted”. The series will instead take Salander and “place her in today’s world with an entirely new setting, new characters and a new story.”

Amazon MGM Studios will produce alongside Left Bank Pictures, which is based at Sony Pictures Television. The original Swedish film adaptations of these books with Noomi Rapace like Lisbeth Salander they were fantastic. I also loved it David Fincherdeal with it with Rooney Mara like Salander and Daniel Craig like Blomkvist. I would have liked to see that creative team do more. But it was restarted again with The girl in the spider’s web hero Claire Foy.

Lisbeth Salander is a really fascinating character, so I understand why people want to keep wanting to play in this sandbox. It looks like Sud has the chops to develop a solid series, but it will be a while before we see anything from it.
