Sigmund Freud and CS Lewis discuss the existence of God in the trailer for FREUD’S LAST SESSION starring Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode

A new trailer has been released for the drama film Freud’s last sessionhero Anthony Hopkins like the psychologist Sigmund Freud and Anthony Hopkins as author C.S. Lewis. The film is based on Marco St. Germainis a play of the same name and is directed by Matteo Marrone and co-written by Brown and St. Germain. The film is also the protagonist Liv Lisa Fries AND Jodi Balfour.

The film is set “two days after Hitler invaded Poland, while German bombs shook England, Freud – who fled Vienna following the presence of Nazi forces in his homeland – now receives a visit from the theologian Lewis in London . Not yet famous enough to the level to which his Chronicles of Narnia series will take him, the former atheist turned Christian has come to confront the “father of psychoanalysis”.

“The topics of discussion? The gap between science and religion, faith and logic. But also how studying the mind could cause the soul to lose its way. “You’ve insisted all your life that the concept of God is ridiculous: a clash between God and Satan,” Goode says, before Hopkins responds. ‘Yes, but I didn’t say which side I was on’”.

“Through the often contentious, day-long debate that sees Lewis challenging Freud’s disbelief and Freud challenging Lewis’ fears, along with Freud facing a deadly cancer, the two work to see each other’s point of view while Britain enters World War II. ‘At the core of your being, we are all cowards before death.’”

Freud’s last session will be released in theaters on December 22nd. Watch the trailer below:
