An amazing video goes from booth to screen featuring Chris Pine’s wicked song from the Disney animated film WISH

Disney has released a great video from the upcoming animated film Wishthat goes from the stand to the screen with Chris Pino as he sings the evil Magnificent King’s song, “This is the thanks I get.” The clip is part of the film “Wish Wednesday.” Each week leading up to the film’s release, they will release another clip or song from the soundtrack.

Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Julia Michaels paired with fellow Grammy winner Beniamino Riso for original songs by Wish. Pine plays the charming King who controls people’s desires. In a statement (via CB), the minds behind the film discussed the new song.

Director Chris Buck said:

“We had a lot of fun. The visuals are amazing: he’s the king and he feels like no one respects him. We haven’t had a good song about bad guys in a while, so Julia and Ben gave it a try.”

Executive producer Jennifer Lee added:

“He’s charismatic; he’s handsome, and he knows it, but I think he really believes that their desires are safer in his hands. So when Asha exposes the flaw in his philosophy, he feels undervalued and threatened.”

Director Fawn Veerasunthorn said:

“We would provide a rough version of the script [to Julia and Ben] and they would go away for a while and come back with a song. Their songs inspired us. For “This is the thanks I get?!” we knew we wanted Magnifico to be charming and, of course, evil. It’s fun too! In the song he makes jokes: he is a narcissist. But he’s all tongue in cheek and still somehow completely likable, which is great for a villain.”

The film’s synopsis reads:

“With a nod to Walt Disney’s musical legacy in celebration of the company’s centennial, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ ‘Wish’ welcomes audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a keen idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it becomes fulfilled.” by a cosmic force, a small sphere of boundless energy called the Star. Together, Asha and Star face a formidable foe, Rosas’ ruler, King Magnificent, to save his community and prove that when the will of a brave human connects with that magic of the stars, wonderful things can happen.”

The film features the voices of the Oscar®-winning actor Ariana De Bose like Asha, Chris Pino as Magnificent, and Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino. The film is directed by the Oscar®-winning director Chris Buck (Frozen, Frozen 2) AND Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon), and produced by Pietro Del Vecho (Frozen, Frozen 2) AND Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster Jones (Enchantment). Jennifer Lee (Frozen, Frozen 2) executive production—Lee and Allison Moore (Night sky, manhunt) are authors of the project.
