Amazon MGM Studios is developing a sequel to the 2022 superhero action film SamaritanAND Sylvester Stallone he will return to reprise his role. The first movie was decent, but I wasn’t expecting to see a sequel, so I’m a little surprised by the news.
Bragi F. Schut, the writer of the first film, was hired to write the screenplay Samaritan 2. Stallone will return as producer, as will his Balboa Productions partner Braden Aftergood.
The film was directed by Julius Avery and the story follows “13-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “I Want” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante Samaritan was declared dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Many believe Samaritan died in the fire, but some in town, like Sam, hope he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam decides to convince his neighbor to come out and save the city from ruin.”
There are no details on what the sequel’s story will tell, but it will be fun to see how they continue the story. Did you like the first film and are you excited for the sequel?
