The boys star Jack Quaid is set to star in an upcoming action thriller film project titled Novocaine. The actor has built quite a fan base thanks to his work in The Boys and has also appeared in film projects such as Scream and Oppenheimer. But, unlike these projects, he will take the lead role in this new film.
In Novocaine he plays Nathan Caine. “He was born with the rare disease CIPA (Congenital Insensitivity to Pain), which means he feels no physical pain. He grew up as a sheltered child, learning to blend his food so he wouldn’t accidentally chew his tongue, and learned to wear a timer to remind himself when to go to the bathroom. But when his bank is robbed and his new love taken hostage, his grief becomes his greatest strength as he sets out to save her.
It is also explained that the protagonist “feels as if he has some Bruce Willis from Unbreakable and a little bit of Keanu Reeves from John Wick.” It definitely seems like an interesting film project and a great character for Quaid to tackle. The hope is to launch a franchise.
The film will be directed by Dan Berk AND Robert Olsen (Bad guys) from a screenplay written by Lars Jacobson. They said in a statement: “It’s hard to find unique entry points into this genre, but this film and the unlikely hero within it immediately captured our imagination. Managing this project alongside Infrared and Safehouse has been incredible, and working with the absolutely perfect lead Jack Quaid is honestly a dream come true.
The film’s producers added: “Novocaine is a non-stop, engaging action thriller, packed with all the heart, humor and verve you could ask for. We couldn’t be more excited to start filming next year with Dan and Bobby, who are true talents and we believe will be the next great directors in the world of action.”
It should be a great movie worth checking out!
