Britney Spears’ THE NOTEBOOK audition tape reveals a solid performance that put her forward for the lead role

It was recently revealed that the singer Britney Spears had auditioned for the lead role in the fan-favorite film The notebookand it was really up to her and Rachel McAdamswho ended up getting the opposite role Ryan Gosling. Spears had grown up knowing Gosling while they starred in the film together The Mickey Mouse Club on Disney Channel, so maybe that helped with the chemistry, as we now know Spears was in the running for the final, after beating Claire Danes, Scarlett Johansson, Amy Adams AND Jessica Biel.

Hollywood Casting Director Matthew Barry revealed the casting news, along with one of Britney Spears’ casting tapes that showcases her acting skills, which you can check out below. Spears eventually revealed in her memoir that she was glad she didn’t get the part, and was happy to have returned to music instead of just acting. While I’m happy Rachel McAdams got the role, I was surprised by how good Spears did in the audition. Maybe one day she’ll return to the big screen and she’ll be able to put those skills to use.
