This week’s retro trailer for the 1986 horror film Stories of downtimewhich is a horror anthology film that brings together a collection of terrifying and twisted tales, framed by a simple yet disturbing premise.
The narrative begins with a little boy named Brian, who begs his uncle to tell him bedtime stories to help him fall asleep. Instead of entertaining him with typical fairy tales, the uncle tells three disturbing stories, one more disturbing than the previous, which blend classic plots with dark horror elements.
The first story reinvents the “Little Red Riding Hood” story, showing a teenage girl’s encounter with a werewolf. The second, a wicked version of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” introduces a family of murderous witches who cross paths with a psychopathic Goldilocks. The final story, based on the story of a wizard’s apprentice, follows a young man named Peter who attempts to resurrect his lover using a potion, only to see things go horribly wrong.
These tales, while based on familiar folklore, are infused with dark themes and gruesome twists that will entertain horror fans.
