Sam Rockwell and Kumail Nanjiani to Star in Dark Comedy A Boy Walks Into a Bar

Sam Rockwell (Vice, Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri) AND Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick, Eternals) will be the protagonists of the next dark comedy A boy enters a bar. The film is directed by the director Gary Fleder (Jury runaway), and written by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level, Poison). The project has received an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA and will enter production later this year.

The film will be shot in New Jersey and follows a mild-mannered new father (Nanjiani) who befriends a charismatic but mysterious man (Rockwell) at a bar, and soon suspects he is hiding a disturbing secret.

The project marks a new team-up for Fleder and Rosenberg, who previously collaborated on their first feature film, the dark comedy Things to do in Denver when you’re dead. Fleder, Rosenberg and Rockwell are also producing this film.

Rockwell will next be seen in the star-studded cast of Matthew VaughnApple’s spy photo Argylewhich will be released in theaters via Universal on February 2, 2024 and will arrive on Apple TV+ on a date that has not yet been determined.

Nanjiani is currently in post-production on the next one ghost Buster Columbia Pictures film. He has also been cast alongside Mandy Moore in Screen Gems, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s Discussion: An insidious storya new film in the Insidious horror universe.
