Here’s a trailer for a new one Jennifer Connelly upcoming film titled Bad behaviour. In the film, Connelly plays a former child star who finds himself in an Enlightenment retreat. She’s obviously going through some things, including a turbulent relationship with her daughter, who she’s played by Alice Englert. It seems like a strange and bizarre film.
In the story, “Lucy searches for enlightenment. The former child actress makes a pilgrimage to join her guru, Elon Bello, for a silent retreat in a beautiful mountain town with a parking lot full of Teslas. Before she hangs up on the world, Lucy turns to her daughter Dylan, a stunt double who is training for a dangerous fight scene, to break her concentration and announce that she will be unavailable and out of reach, and that he is very worried about her and that he could extend his stay. It’s bad co-dependent behavior. When a young model/DJ/influencer at the retreat is paired with Lucy to do a mother-daughter role-playing exercise, hellfire fuels Lucy’s bad behavior to a surprisingly low level.
The film marks the directorial debut of Alice Englert, for whom she also wrote the screenplay. The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. Joining Englert and Connelly in the film are Ben Whishaw, Ana Scottney, Dasha Nekrasova, Karan Gill, Beulah Koale AND Marlon Williams.
Further details about its US release have not yet been announced, but it will begin showing in New Zealand theaters on November 2nd and Australian theaters on November 9th.
