Well, I’ve completed my watch Power Rangers Megaforce AND Power Rangers Super Megaforce. Honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Maybe my expectations were tempered better after watching Samurai or I was actually believing some of the hate I saw about it, but in the end I wasn’t throwing up, so that’s something, right? Don’t get me wrong, these seasons weren’t great at all, but they could have been worse.
Megaforce is based on Tensou Sentai Goseiger While Super Mega Strength uses them both Goseiger AND Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. This was definitely an interesting choice in my opinion as Samurai he had remained faithful to the same Listen for both seasons. I guess the main reason for the change has to do with the fact that Super Mega Strength it was a season of celebration that would end with the “Legendary Battle.” The seasons also see an attempt to return to a more similar atmosphere Morphin’ mighty Power Rangers. The Rangers are once again teenagers attending high school, called by a mentor who is essentially just a floating head and aided by a robot, and they attend a place run by a boy named Ernie. Our Rangers include Troy Burrows (Andrea Grigio) as Red, Emma Goodall (Christina Masterson) as Pink, Jake Holling (Azim Rizk) as Black/Green, Gia Moran (Ciara Hanna) as Yellow and Noah Carver (John Mark Loudermilk) as Blue with Robo Knight (Chris Auer) and Orion (Cameron Jebo) later joining as the sixth Rangers.
In all honesty, this return to form is refreshing up to a point. I missed seeing average teenagers living normal lives become Power Rangers. We were pretty close to that Jungle Fury AND Mystical Forcebut really Dino Thunder it was the last time we received it. That said, we didn’t have to copy that much from the file Powerful morphine days. I mean, the guy who runs the frozen yogurt shop was supposed to be named Ernie? Also, the whole setup with Gosei (Geoff Dolan) and Tensou (Estevez Gillespie) is a bit much, especially with Gosei saying he was put on Earth by Zordon. It seems a bit much.
In terms of the story, I personally felt that way Megaforce AND Super Mega Strength they are very lacking. For Megaforce, it just seems like the same thing we got in the last few seasons of some aliens wanting to take over Earth without anything that makes it really special. Then when we get to Super Mega Strength, the plot points feel a little less focused. Also, I felt like none of the characters had really changed or grown in any way. The closest thing would be that Jake was slightly less of an exhibitionist at the end and Gia gave him less of a hard time at the end. But that’s all. There was a two-episode episode that focused on Noah in an attempt to make him grow up, but it felt out of left field with no real consequences. It’s definitely not the most interesting season to watch. The less-than-stellar acting doesn’t help either. To their credit, though, I felt like the acting had improved in the meantime Megaforce AND Super Mega Strength.
Let’s take a minute to talk about equipment. I don’t know why, but I don’t like it Megaforce clothes. I think it’s because the white comes above the waistband creating a cropped jacket-like look and I personally don’t like that look. However, I really like the Super Mega Strength clothes. They look fantastic. The Gosei Morpher in Megaforce it’s interesting to me because of the use of power cards to transform and summon weapons. However, he is huge and how much ego does Gosei have to make the morphers look like himself? Meanwhile, the Legendary Morphers feel less unique as they are just cellphones, but use the keys to transform and access the Legendary Ranger’s powers. One thing that gives Megaforce points Super Mega Strength it’s the fact that the Rangers in Megaforce have individual weapons like the Dragon Sword and Serpent Axe. Super Mega Strength he doesn’t actually have it, even though the Rangers have access to the weapons of the Legendary Rangers whose powers they access. However, in Super Mega mode, they have no unique weapons.
Honestly, the Zords and Megazords didn’t really impress me, except for one thing: the Q-Rex. If you’re a Power Rangers fan, you might think of the Quantasaurus Rex used by Eric Myers in Force of time when Orion calls the Q-Rex in Super Megaforce, especially after mentioning Time Force. No! The Q-Rex is another Zord that I imagine was supposed to be based on Eric’s Zord. I don’t know why, but this really upset me.
I want to talk about it a little more Super Mega Strength and the legendary Rangers. I really think this was a nice way to celebrate the franchise. It’s a little weird at times since they use forms we never had in Power Rangers like the Dairanger powers, but overall I really like it. “Legendary Battle” is a pretty solid tribute to the Power Rangers legacy that features so many classic Rangers including Tommy Oliver (Jason David Frank) among many others. It’s a fun tribute and I especially love seeing so much help in civilian form before the final battle.
One final complaint I have is related to the ending of Super Mega Strength. After defeating Mavro (that fight is pretty awesome), the Rangers celebrate by going to a concert. So far no problems. The concert they go to comes Samurai when Mia and Antonio sing together. This is frustrating because it messes up the timeline. Supposedly, Super Mega Strength it happens later Super Samurai and therefore this cannot happen then. Furthermore, we know that Antonio and Mia later went on to do something else Super Samurai. I guess they could have regrouped and started a tour or something, but it’s really just the production team trying to save money by using old footage, even though it doesn’t make sense.
Megaforce AND Super Mega Strength they tried a return to form and, while some of it is appreciated, perhaps they went too far. I think it’s a little better than Samurai seasons, but not by much. Now is the time to rush Power Rangers Dino Charge.
