Danny DeVito reveals plans for MATILDA concert event with co-star Mara Wilson

Danny DeVito revealed that he plans to reunite with his family Matilda co-star Mara Wilson for a concert event that would see them narrate the 1996 film. DeVito not only starred in the original adaptation based on the beloved Roald Dahl book, but also directed the film.

DeVito told The Messenger about the meeting being postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, saying:

“Mara and I were scheduled to perform Matilda live with the New Jersey Philharmonic Orchestra shortly before the strike. We had everything ready but, after the strike, we couldn’t proceed because it would have been seen as a promotion for a film. However, we are still planning to do so. We will watch the film with the David Newman score and try to do so soon, as it looks like the strike is about to end – I hope so!”

The film follows a six-year-old genius who develops telekinetic powers to defend himself from his neglectful family and the school’s abusive principal.

THE Matilde in concert The event was originally scheduled for September 9 at the State Theater in New Jersey, but was postponed due to the actors’ strike.

A statement on the theater’s website reads:

“Everyone involved in this production was looking forward to performing together this September, and we are disappointed to have to postpone it, but we look forward to holding the show at a future date once the strike is over.”

As the strike hopefully comes to an end, we will hear more about this delightful event. Stay tuned.
