Rumors have been circulating for years that NBC may be working on a reboot of the fan-favorite sitcom The officebut they have increased in recent months and showrunners Greg Daniels he finally responded to the chatter, shyly telling Collider:
“Well, I think it’s very speculative. The fact that it blew up based on a line in a Puck piece was pretty cool, I guess, in the sense that the fans still care a lot. But the thing I would say is, when we it will be something to announce, I will definitely announce it.”
This isn’t the first time Daniels has tackled a reboot, previously stating that it’s “not impossible” for something to happen, but he certainly doesn’t want to rush into a decision and disappoint fans. Daniels has also said in the past that he should The office continue in some way,” it would just be some kind of extension of the universe, you know what I mean, like the way [The] mandalorian It’s like an extension of ‘Star Wars.'”
CB reports that Daniels reinforced this sentiment when he previously stated in a THR profile:
“It was such a perfect thing that I would have hesitated to open it. We had a chance to end it the way we wanted to end it. It wasn’t like we were interrupted in the middle of a race or anything like that. So it feels like It’s completely artistic. But, having said that, I don’t know, the cast occasionally talks about getting back together in some form, but I don’t see it as a reboot like Will & Grace was rebooted.”
So it’s all interesting. Who knows if or when this will actually happen, or what it would be like, but I know I’d be excited to see it if it all worked out! Would you be excited for a Office reboot?
